Recent Departures is an ongoing installation created by Workparty, a small design collective that I have been a part of for just over 4 years. The project made its debut at the Gladstone Hotel's annual Come Up To My Room event in January of 2010.
The project revolves around a fictional story that we have pieced together over the course of a year, told through the collected remains of a lost community. Our intention is to explore the idea of storytelling through the use of objects. Some are expected, and others quite unexpected. Each object carries with it a small description that, when pieced together with the others, creates a larger story about the idea of departure and all the different reasons for doing so.
