The OCAD Student Press began as a small personal project, handed down to me from its founders. Much has changed since then. I have been the director of the Press for the past four years. Throughout that time we have produced three publications as part of the annual Shift series, with the fourth to be published in September of 2010.

Through this ongoing annual publication, we have been on a mission to tap into the art and design-based thinking being explored everyday at the Ontario College of Art & Design. What began first as a collaborative collection of Environmental Design and Industrial Design thesis work eventually opened up to students from all design disciplines. The OCAD Student Press is now the only entity within OCAD that is compiling and publishing student design research, and our publications are now widely read, both within and outside of our campus. Recently, our publications have also been integrated into the OCAD curriculum as required reading for all first-year design students.
